Santiago Viera

Santiago Viera operates as a central defensive midfielder for Atlético Progreso, where he plays a crucial role in the team's defensive setup. Standing at 171 cm and weighing 68 kg, he brings a compact presence to the midfield, allowing him to navigate tight spaces effectively. This size can be advantageous in breaking up opposition plays and maintaining possession under pressure. In the current season, Viera has made 12 appearances and scored one goal, contributing to his team's efforts both defensively and offensively. His average rating of 6.38 suggests a solid, if not standout, performance level, indicating that while he may not always be the focal point, he consistently supports his teammates in maintaining the team's structure and rhythm. With 735 minutes played this season, he is becoming an integral part of the squad's midfield dynamics. Viera's preferred right foot allows him to effectively distribute the ball and engage in tackles, making him a reliable option in midfield battles. His experience from previous clubs, such as Morelia and Fénix, has likely contributed to his understanding of the game, enabling him to read plays and make timely interventions. As he continues his contract until December 2026, Viera is poised to further develop his role within the team, providing stability and defensive acumen.
