Nicolas Höfler

Nicolas Höfler plays as a central defensive midfielder for SC Freiburg, where he utilizes his experience to anchor the team's midfield. At 181 cm and 78 kg, he combines a solid physical presence with a right-footed playing style. His role typically involves breaking up opposition plays and providing support to both the defense and the attack, although this season he has recorded just 2 tackles and 2 interceptions across 28 appearances, indicating a more reserved contribution in those areas. In the current season (2025/2026), Höfler has averaged a rating of 6.53 over 496 minutes of play. While he may not be producing standout statistics, his experience is invaluable to a team that relies on tactical discipline and leadership from its senior players. The numbers suggest he is focused on maintaining possession and facilitating transitions rather than being heavily involved in defensive actions. Having been with SC Freiburg since returning from a loan to Erzgebirge Aue in 2013, Höfler's long tenure illustrates his loyalty and adaptability within the club. Currently, he plays a critical role as a stabilizing force in midfield, contributing to the team's overall balance.
