Michael Spellman

Michael Spellman operates primarily as a left winger for Newport County, where he leverages his height and physicality to impact games. Standing at 184 cm and weighing 80 kg, he possesses a strong presence on the pitch, making him a challenging opponent for defenders. His preferred left foot allows him to cut inside effectively, creating opportunities for both himself and teammates. In the current season, Spellman has made 35 appearances, netting 5 goals and providing 1 assist. This demonstrates his ability to contribute to the team's attacking efforts, although his average rating of 6.64 indicates there is room for improvement in consistency and overall impact. With nearly 1,700 minutes played, he shows a commitment to his role, often being a regular feature in the starting lineup. Spellman's journey through various clubs, including stints at Sunderland U21 and Blyth Spartans, reflects his development as a player. Now at Newport County, he looks to further refine his skills and establish himself as a key player in the squad as he aims to build on his current season's performance through to the end of his contract in June 2026.
