Lennard Maloney

Lennard Maloney plays as a central defensive midfielder for FSV Mainz 05, where he stands out due to his physical presence at 188 cm and 89 kg. His right-footed playing style emphasizes his strength in breaking up opposition plays, as demonstrated by his 12 interceptions this season. While he has contributed to the attack with 1 key pass, his primary role remains focused on defensive duties, where he averages 3 tackles per game. In the current season, Maloney has made 35 appearances, accumulating 1025 minutes on the pitch. His average rating of 6.57 indicates a steady performance, though it suggests room for improvement in his overall impact during matches. His ability to read the game and disrupt the opposition's flow showcases his developing skill set, which is crucial for a defensive midfielder. Having joined Mainz 05 in 2025 from Heidenheim for a transfer fee of €0.5 million, Maloney is under contract until June 2028, indicating the club's belief in his potential. As he continues to gain experience in a competitive league, he is well-positioned to grow further into his role at Mainz.
