John McCarthy

John McCarthy serves as a goalkeeper for New York RB, bringing a wealth of experience to the position at 33 years old. Standing tall at 190 cm and weighing 89 kg, he possesses a commanding physical presence that can be intimidating for opposing attackers. His stature allows him to cover a significant portion of the goal, making him an asset during set pieces and aerial challenges. In the current season, McCarthy has made one appearance, with an average rating of 5.52. Although his limited playtime suggests he may not be the first-choice keeper, his role in training and as a squad member remains crucial. His experience in various clubs, including recent stints with LA Galaxy and Inter Miami, contributes to his understanding of the game and his ability to mentor younger players. McCarthy’s journey through different teams has likely honed his skills in shot-stopping, positioning, and communication, essential qualities for any goalkeeper. As he continues with New York RB until December 2026, he aims to capitalize on his experience and contribute to the team's defensive solidity as they navigate the challenges of the league.
